The material includes 43 cards with questions and 7 blank cards, which invite participants to propose questions that are still missing. These cards are organized into five thematic blocks, identified by color:
- General aspects (blue cards)
- Information about mining in Haití (yellow cards)
- Main impacts (red cards)
- Common lies told by mining companies (orange cards)
- Group work (blank cards)
At UNIR-Haiti, we have used this game as an educational tool to raise awareness about the impacts of metal mining. There are no mines currently in operation in Haiti, but exploration permits have been granted. In recent years, the threat of exploitation has become increasingly latent. In response, we continue to visit communities to “play the cards” and reflect collectively on the risks of mining.
On Saturday, August 30, we held an activity in the community of Grand Bassin, which is part of the commune of Terrier-Rouge in the northeastern department of Haiti, where we shared and presented these letters as part of the community formation process.
